As we start a new year, we are delighted to announce the outcome of our second 2025 funding round, which awarded £446,517 to nine partners to fund projects across the world, with an additional £90,000 dedicated to emergency humanitarian response.

It supports parents and the wider communities in leading lasting changes, offering activities to expand livelihood support for parents and caregivers, enhance training in climate-smart agriculture in partnership and continue advocacy for teacher-retention policies.

The project will expand on the successful Kolkata initiative, deepening the capacity of duty bearers to include children’s rights in urban agendas and working to support and protect street-connected children in the city.

This project also focuses on increasing local knowledge, awareness and service uptake of adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights, including influencing policy and legal frameworks and raising awareness of these services in schools.

This next phase seeks to increase the focus on job opportunities through the integration of entrepreneurial and financial literacy membership, provide start-up toolkits to empower graduates to establish their own businesses and enhance the production of Ecojua Smart Bags.

(STL): The next phase will scale up STL’s provision of clean, sustainable energy to off-grid and remote communities in Sierra Leone. Through this funding, STL will be able to focus on sustainability and expand its integration of digital solutions, engaging with off-grid sales training experts to advance their energy sales and reach more communities.

This aims to improve the professional lives of teachers in Malaka and South-Central Timor, allowing them to feel happier and more confident in their positions and, consequently, inspiring children by creating a more sustainable learning environment.

(SPDA): This partnership will help SPDA strengthen and scale citizen-led conservation efforts, supporting communities, young leaders, private initiatives and grassroot collectives to transform conservation in Latin America. The project focuses on working with communities to improve nursery infrastructure, produce native and productive seedlings and test restoration models that integrate agroforestry and slope stabilisation. It also concentrates on climate-adaptation and developing participatory monitoring tools to inform regional policy and education.

We are delighted to announce our new funded partners from our grants round in September 2024. For this round, we specifically sought to collaborate with organisations working tangibly to address environmental challenges. In addition to the focus on environmental sustainability, we provided follow-on funding to an existing partner, Global Girl Project, and responded to several global humanitarian appeals as outlined below.

A Safer Place

In January this year, the EA Foundation awarded £25,000 to the Refugee Council towards its Refugee Advice Project (RAP). Last month, our Communications volunteer Yasmin Comez accompanied EA Foundation's Director Georgina Awoonor-Gordon on a visit to the Refugee Council at their offices in East London. Here, Yasmin reflects on the visit and the impact of our funding.

It’s difficult to turn on the TV or any media platform without hearing about the harrowing journeys that people take, against the odds, to escape persecution and to seek refuge in the UK. The riots in the summer were a sad reflection of the discrimination and misconceptions that many refugees face upon arrival in the UK. I was keen to learn more about the challenges faced and the support provided by the Refugee Council.

For example, many people may not know that when a person has been granted refugee status, this immediately puts them at risk of homelessness and destitution as they are required to shift from their asylum support to seeking mainstream welfare support. This often means families moving from temporary accommodation within 28 days and starting the process of accessing any financial assistance, in a new country where they have limited or no support systems.

This is usually where the Refugee Council’s Refugee Advice Project steps in. In addition to providing housing advice to support refugee clients out of homelessness, through our funding over the first six months of the project, the amazingly dedicated team has supported over 97 clients through a range of critical steps. These include ensuring that children start school, that families can access healthcare, food and clothing banks, setting up bank accounts, challenging poor decision-making by local authorities and referring clients to receive other specialist support from organisations such as Helen Bamber Foundation (which supports survivors of trafficking and torture) and legal advice centres.

The team has supported people like Noor (name changed to protect confidentiality), a woman in her mid-30s from Asia, who was suffering from complex mental health issues as a result of trauma and was struggling to engage with homelessness support services. On the day of our visit, we met another client of the project, Eric, who is from Central Africa and had to flee due to the dangerous political situation in his home country. Speaking with Eric was nothing short of inspiring. He had been homeless and spoke of the invaluable support he has received from the Refugee Council. He is now settled and actively seeking employment and expressed his keenness to start giving back productively.

The team anticipate that recent chances to immigration policy in the UK will increase the number of people being granted refugee status and potentially facing homelessness. This is likely to result in an upsurge in demand for their services, so they are preparing a triage system to ensure that they provide adequate support to new and existing clients and make referrals where needed.

Upon reflection of our visit, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to meet the remarkable individuals at the Refugee Council and the courageous people they support. The dedication and compassion of the team are inspiring, as is their unwavering commitment to providing refuge and hope to those in need. I feel privileged to have heard the stories of how the charity has supported individuals who have faced unimaginable challenges. By the end of my visit, it was clear that the Refugee Council provides vital services and the partnership with EA Foundation ultimately serves to ensure that refugees can live safe and fulfilling lives.

Note from EA Foundation: Kindly note that we mainly fund work in low and medium-income countries. Funding for work in the UK is by exception only.

Our partnership with The Cycle UK and Sanitation First India is one of our longest. An initial grant in 2021 has evolved into a deeper strategic partnership and increased investment in their work.

Here at The Cycle, we've been on an incredible mission for over 25 years to empower women and girls through sustainable WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) solutions and life-changing menstrual health education. During that time, we've constructed safe eco-toilets, restored precious water bodies, delivered period education classes, run menstrual disorder clinics, and tirelessly advocated to end gender inequality.

None of these achievements would have been possible without the generous support and partnership of organisations like EA Foundation. Over the past three years, they have provided us with vital flexible funding that has allowed us to significantly extend our reach and deepen our life-changing impact.

What makes this grant so special is that it came with a deep understanding of the importance of capacity funding. Rather than dictating exactly how the funds must be spent, they trust our team to split the funding as needed between sanitation projects, training programmes, and operational support for both our UK and India offices . This has meant that, for example, we have been able to recruit a monitoring and evaluation expert, strengthening our capacity to demonstrate impact.

This flexible, grassroots-led approach has empowered us to drive critical projects based on the specific needs of the communities we serve. With EA Foundation's backing, we've been able to expand into some of the most marginalised and aspirational districts of Tamil Nadu, India, bringing sustainable sanitation, clean water, and essential menstrual health education to areas that desperately require it.

The trust placed in us is truly invaluable. In addition to crucial financial support, they have also fostered strategic introductions to help our organisation grow and connect with new networks. They've visited the projects in India, enabling them to see our work first-hand, learn and get to know our hard-working on-the-ground staff.

The partnership has enabled the implementation of several transformative initiatives in recent years. In Padur, we established a long-awaited birthing unit to provide a safe, hygienic environment for mothers to deliver. The centre caters for some of the most vulnerable women in the communities. Alongside this project, in the hamlet of Masima Nagar, we constructed a women's community WASH complex to finally give residents access to clean water and sanitation facilities. For this year, we’re about to kick-start a project in another school in Tamil Nadu (in the village of Veeracholan) to bring WASH and menstrual education to young students.''

We received proposals for a diverse range of projects globally, and ultimately, the Board approved funding for work that demonstrated a mix of the tightest fit to strategy, highest impact, and value for money. Applications were reviewed by an assessment team guided by our grant-making criteria and wider due diligence checks.

The huge demand and diversity of applications received provided the Board with an opportunity to test our strategy and further underline our key priorities. More information on how the learning from this round will affect future grant-making will be shared shortly.

In the interim, we have also been able to compile a sound pipeline of credible projects which means that, due to limited internal resources to manage another open round, the Board has taken the decision to run the next funding round by invitation only. Applicant organisations from the recent funding round which have been identified for the ‘pipeline’ list will be contacted directly and invited to apply for the next funding round which will launch in March. Please do not apply for the next round unless invited, as your proposal will not be considered.

We appreciate that this will be disappointing to many organisations, and sincerely wish you success with your ongoing fundraising efforts.

Summary: The grant is to fund a remote programme for up to 20 post-doctoral African researchers, with the aim of building participants’ basic understanding of post-doctoral academic grant writing. Africa has only 20 Health Researchers per Million Population, compared to other WHO countries, e.g., Europe has 246 Researchers per Million Population. This phenomenon is one of the major causes of loss of human capital and marginal utilisation of the local knowledge economy in the African continent.

Summary: Street Connected Children and Young People (SCCYP) project in Mombasa addresses access to basic education which acts as a barrier to livelihoods off the street. Public schools are ill-equipped to meet the needs of SCCYP. This project aims to make unsafe, unsupported, and excluded SCCYP safer, with better access to services and a greater sense of belonging in their community. The project will provide sustainable routes off the street by improving literacy and numeracy, and providing support to enter and remain in education, including moving to secondary and higher education.

Beekeeping was a traditional industry in Syria and Al-Bab district before the war, producing honey, royal jelly, natural wax and propolis. 10 years of conflict have led to the collapse of the local economy and significant population displacements, both within the country and to neighbouring countries. The many years of instability have provoked a decrease of bees in the region, as well as less biodiversity. Bee colonies have been destroyed or neglected, with an 86% decrease in many rural areas. However, thanks to a successful fundraising campaign and IACO's technical expertise in agriculture – they were able to successfully launch a beekeeping training project in Al-Bab from April 2022 to March 2023 for 50 beekeepers. Due to the amazing feedback they’d received on this project, Mercy Hands and IACO have decided to continue by training a further 50 people – which will equate to 100 trained beekeepers in total by the end of the second phase!

The next phase of this project will focus primarily on the functioning of the artificial insemination center for queen bees, more sustainable methods of bee feeding, and the importance of the biodiversity of flowers and plants (which are necessary for pollination and bee health). A greenhouse will also be made available to the farmers and beekeepers, to ensure they are able to cultivate flowering plants each season.

The project will impact 400 people’s lives directly, with 100 of the people being beekeepers and 300 who are local farmers that are currently practicing beekeeping and will benefit from the distribution of plants. The 100 beekeepers are comprised of 50 beekeepers from the initial first phase of the project, with the additional 50 becoming new beekeepers who will be trained. Within this secondary phase, Mercy Hands and IACO aim to obtain gender equality by ensuring that 25 of the 50 beekeepers are women. The project will also indirectly impact 20,000 people’s lives!

We’re very pleased to announce that we have recently started an exciting new partnership with Practical Action, supporting their project which works to provide dignified employment through gathering and recycling floating waste in the Padma River, Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is confronted with a significant challenge in managing its waste. The country produces approximately 800,000 tons of plastic waste annually, and the local authorities require additional support to handle this issue. The Padma River, a major waterway running through the nation, has unfortunately become a disposal area and a major route for various types of floating debris – which eventually making its way into the ocean.

The project aims to collect and categorise floating debris in the Padma River, including materials such as plastics, metals, wood, fabric/clothing, and more. These items will be transported to specialized facilities for further processing, value addition, and repurposing. Organic materials will be sent for composting, while plastics will undergo sorting based on their grade. The highest-grade plastics will be immediately repurposed and returned to the market. Lower-grade plastics (typically destined for landfills) will be subjected to a process called pyrolysis. This process involves high-temperature heating in a vacuum, transforming them into high-quality oil, crucial for maintenance in the shipping industry, and black carbon used in manufacturing print cartridges.

This project will impact 2,000 people’s lives by securing stable jobs and incomes, in the municipalities of Faridpur, Satkhira, Magura and Jashore in Bangladesh. Other benefits include cleaner air alongside a cleaner environment for over 1.9 million people, a major reduction in the open burning of plastics that led to emitting carbon in the atmosphere, and a reduction in the open disposal of plastics (and other materials) of up to 70%!

           13 July 2023

Although women make up nearly half of the global population, they continue to face significant inequalities. In spirit of World Population Day (11th July), we wanted to highlight our commitment to this year’s theme of ‘’Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities.’’

As you may recall, we funded a brilliant project with our charity partner – Sanitation First India/ The Cycle which directly addressed health needs of the women in numerous ways.

Firstly, part of the project is called ‘Happy Periods’, where Sanitation First supply period packs for the young girls at a local school in small town in the Tamil Nadu state. To strengthen menstrual cycle support, they also provide training to both girls and boys to enhance knowledge of menstrual cycles. Within the same school, toilet facilities have been built for the girls and boys to improve sanitation for the young children.

Within the same funding, a new maternity block was built in the primary health centre of Padur, serving 35 remote villages in the Kanchipuram district – providing a facility that enables mothers to safely give birth to their babies.

We mentioned in our blog post back in February that we visited the community of Masimanagar where over 150 families have no access to toilet facilities – highlighting the need for sanitation facilities in this area. We are delighted to share with you that we have now approved funding to support Sanitation First India in this project!

The project sets out to support the community through a series of interventions. These will consist of constructing a women’s sanitary complex that includes a WC for the elderly, pregnant and physically challenged, a manual incinerator to dispose of menstrual waste, adequate bathrooms, dedicated wash areas and handwashing facilities, and an overhead tank & rooftop rainwater harvesting system connected to recharge well. Alongside this, training for men, women, boys, and girls in the Happy Periods Curriculum will be provided – as well as sustainable menstrual kits for the women and girls. Lastly, a committee known as the WASH committee will be formed and trained on how to take care of the operation and maintenance of the sanitary complex.

This will support the community of Masimanagar by significantly improving access to safe sanitation facilities for the vulnerable tribal community and capacitate them to use it with safety and dignity, ensure zero waste discharge on the environment, ensure sustainable use of assets created through the trained WASH committee, enable training for men, women, boys and girls on adolescent health and wellbeing – demonstrating mutual respect for one another, and create a reduction in substance abuse through peer leadership and motivation.

This project will promote greater support for many in the community, especially the women and girls. Through partnerships with organisations like Sanitation First / The Cycle, we strive to ensure that women’s voices and needs are placed at the centre of community debate and development. We look forward to sharing updates with you as the project develops!

people in rural areas amongst low-income nations lack access to reliable roads and affordable transportation. That equates to one out of every eight people in the world and includes 70% of Africa’s rural population.

The project will set out to benefit many people by distributing over 200 rugged Buffalo Bicycles across the rural communities in Malawi named above to both male and females students. This should result in improved attendance, reduced lateness, and a reduced travel time to schools. Alongside this, the households of these students will benefit from improved transportation to goods and services. The holistic mobilised communities model that guides this project will also help families, individuals and entire communities move themselves out of poverty, increase productivity, increase and diversify household incomes and improve education & health outcomes.

We are delighted to share with you yet another tremendous project that we have recently agreed to fund, and you might recognise the name of the partner too!

We are supporting this new project with our existing partner, Mercy Hands Europe, and a new local implementation partner, Agri Service Ethiopia. The project is designed to empower and improve the livelihoods of the population (especially women) of six food insecure districts in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. This will be achieved by promoting sustainable agriculture practices and rehabilitating degraded land over the next two years.

This project aims to directly benefit 400 people (310 women and 90 men) along with around 4,500 indirect beneficiaries in the wider community. We were really impressed by the thoughtful design of this complex project, which is informed by the decades of experience that Agri Services Ethiopia has in empowering rural communities. This aligns well with our priorities of poverty relief and sustainable development. The project combines multiple activities organised under two broad objectives and a cross-cutting focus on female participation.

The first objective is reduce poverty and financial hardship of the 400 direct beneficiaries through integrated food security interventions. The starting point will be to establish community learning forums to facilitate learning and information sharing. Smallholder farmers will be supported to diversify seeds and improve soil fertility via compost and pest control. Many participants will receive livestock and associated training. Finally, 50 participated will be trained and supported in beekeeping practices, creating a lovely link to our previous project with Mercy Hands Europe in Syria.

The second objective is to provide the participants with 80 hectares of land, rehabilitated through an integrated watershed development approach to make them resource productive. Two springs will be developed to create access to drinking water, which will be managed by the community forums. 110 fuel efficient stoves will be distributed to reduce deforestation and the burden on women. Heads of households will be trained for four days on agroecology, agroforestry practices, tree planting and management.

The EA Foundation is the leading funder for this two-year project, which will also be supported by several other organisations! We are delighted to be sharing this news with you all and very much look forward to keeping you updated as the project develops!

We are thrilled to present another update on one of the brilliant projects we are supporting! This time, it’s from the Baytree’s Sparking Futures Employability Hub for girls aged 14-20 in South London. We awarded a grant at the start of 2022 to help the Baytree Centre establish a new employability hub and the project has now been running for a year.

Over that time, 90 girls have benefitted from the hub and taken part in 580 hours of development training. The original target was to help 60 girls and young women, which has been overachieved by 50%!

Due to the funding provided by the EA Foundation, a unique programme has been developed that supports the girls and young women in six key areas:

            Skills

            Exposure and networking

            Routes to employment

            Practical support

            Rights and civic responsibility

            Financial literacy

The programme is delivered through various elements of provision. These include weekly personal development sessions, monthly employability workshops, 1-to-1 mentoring with career champions, work experience bootcamps and career insight days, and opportunities to volunteer within their communities. Below, are some of the recent highlights from the project so far: To celebrate Black History Month, a career panel was hosted where the girls were joined by five successful black women from different sectors spoke to discuss their career journeys. The women were April Jackson, Sareeta Domingo, Lily Naadu Mensah, Antoinette Yetunde Oni and Temi Adedoyin.

A career fest was attended with the main focus being hospitality – enabling girls to practice a variety of skills such as mocktail making and serving customers in a high-pressured environment. The girls took part in a workshop collaboration with the WOW Foundation (Women of the World). This provided the girls with the opportunity to learn about different creative careers and how to become a creative freelancer. 21 girls have benefitted from 1-to-1 career guidance, alongside bespoke practical support to write a CV or apply for jobs through the career champions programme that’s offered. There is a Youth Council made up of 14 active and engaged councillors who meet twice a month on a Friday and are involved in the planning & decision-making process across the service. This is inclusive of the 2 new peer mentors and the 1 youth support worker that Baytree has hired from the group of girls themselves!

An exciting 7-week financial literacy programme has just been launched! This means that 18 girls will gain both the skills and knowledge to manage their money and work towards building their personal capital.

These are just some of the many wonderful activities that are being carried out at the Baytree’s Sparking Futures Employability Hub! The project has also involved developing strong relationships with various partner organisations, 12 of which have already helped deliver employability opportunities with more planned in the coming months.

The Baytree Centre has been monitoring the results of this project and a strong majority of participants report having improved understanding of career opportunities and how to pursue them as well as improved workplace skills. Two-thirds also indicated they have met people who provide them advice or support to secure a job through the project. The project is delivering lasting benefits in the shape of better employment opportunities.

Given these successes, we are also extremely pleased to announce that we have agreed to provide a further £10,000 of funding to continue the project beyond the initial year, providing even more girls and young women with targeted employability and personal development opportunities. The Baytree Centre will also use this time to ensure the Sparking Futures Employability Hub is on a financially sustainable footing for the long term.

One our our trustees, Amrita Sen, and I had the amazing opportunity of being able to visit the first set of projects funded by the EA Foundation that were completed last year and to see them with our own eyes. In a word…WOW!

The projects were carried out by Sanitation First India and the work they’ve completed is incredible. First we set off to Mamallapuram, a small town in the Tamil Nadu state of India, where the foundation funded brand new toilet facilities for a school. We met some of the young girls from the school, where Amrita made a small but mighty speech.

Part of the project we have supported is called ‘Happy Periods’, whereby Sanitation First supply period packs. The period packs are procured from Real Relief. The period packs last for a total of three years and up to 200 uses. Just when you thought this initiative couldn’t get any better – they are now in the midst of creating packs that last up to five years! Alongside the packs, they provide training to both girls and boys regarding menstrual cycles. We had the privilege to give out some of these packs to the girls and see how much they were appreciated.

Next, we visited the new maternity block built in the primary health center of Padur. We met some of the mothers that have safely given birth due to this project, and their healthy babies! We even had the fortune of meeting the first mother to safely give birth to a beautiful baby boy in the ward. Of course, we had a little cuddle too. Prior to the construction of this maternity block, the new mothers would have to share facilities with other patients of the hospital without any separation. They also had to walk down a long corridor to use the closest toilet, which could be a struggle after having just given birth. The new maternity block includes a private toilet facility, as well as three new beds dedicated solely to new mothers, helping improve the care and dignity of their birth experience.

Whilst we were around Mamallapuram, we also visited the tribal community of Masimanagar where over 150 families have no access to toilet facilities. This demonstrated the scale of the need for sanitation facilities in this area that Sanitation First wants to address and we will be continuing the conversation about how we might be able to contribute.

We would like to give a special mention to Priya, Nisha and David from the team of Sanitation First India and The Cycle in the UK. It was an honour to meet people who are so dedicated to helping to improve other people’s lives, one day at a time. We would like to say a special thank you to them for showing us around and allowing us to step into their world for a day, it was a true privilege, and we are completely taken back by how many lives have already been impacted through these projects.

We are excited to explore how we can continue our partnership with The Cycle / Sanitation Firs

We’re excited to begin the New Year with the funding of a brand-new project: Building and kitting out a library hub at Rowa Primary School in the Mutare Rural District in Zimbabwe. The project is being completed by the African Children’s Fund in conjunction with their partner Mwana Trust.

The African Children’s Fund is a UK charity that was established to benefit under-served children. They work with grassroot partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The main aim of the charity is to enable every child to gain access to education.

Rowa Primary School does not currently have a library and the literacy resources available to pupils are limited. The library will encourage a reading culture through weekly class reading sessions and it will be used to advance the education of the students by developing life skills. It will also provide a resource for the wider local community.

The library hub will contain fiction and non-fiction books, together with newspapers and magazines. The funding will enable the purchase of an extensive collection of textbooks aligned to the new Zimbabwean curriculum, reducing the need for students to share outdated editions. Alongside this, there will be three computers – one containing the library database, with the other two being used for research purposes. These computers will have internet access and be connected to solar panels.

We are thrilled to be working with the African Children’s Fund, as this project perfectly aligns with one of our four core priorities – education. If you would like to know more about the charity, then please head over to

Since this project was initiated, our partners secured additional funding that has allowed them to increase the number of direct beneficiaries to 50 instead of 40 and expand the project in several other ways.

Here’s a timeline of what’s been happening for the last few months:

July – The entirety of this month was dedicated to the purchase, preparation and distribution of the beekeeping kits for the beneficiaries. The team worked with local craftsmen to begin production of the wooden beehives – promoting local knowledge and participating in the regional economy.

August – 250 wooden beehives were distributed, with each beneficiary receiving five. The beekeepers met and decided there would be three cooperatives. These would be located in Al-Bab, Bizaa and Qabasin. Now that the cooperatives had been established – logos, stamps, and banners of each cooperative were developed. The last achievement of August was the manufacturing of electric honey extractors. These machines enable extraction of honey whilst keeping the honeycomb intact, which can then be reused by the bees to generate more honey.

September – This was the training month of all 30 members from the board of directors from the three cooperatives. The training included financial management, strategy planning, internal administration and communications. This enables the board members to formulate the rules and legal structure for their cooperatives. Further to this, offices were rented and equipped with the necessary furniture. September also saw drafts of the honey jar labels being prepared!

October – 4,000 honey jars were purchased, and the honey jar stickers were finalised. October also involved training on excessive use of pesticides and how to fill and package the honey jars. IACO visited 22 beekeepers and found 18 of them had bees in good or excellent conditions.

November – What an exciting month this was! The stickers for the honey jars were printed and honey jars filled – all in preparation for the honey fair. The fair was held in Al-Bab city and took place across three days. This was the first fair of its kind in the past 10 years due to the conflict that’s been taking place in Syria. Around 2,000 visitors attended, getting a chance to taste honey and learn more about the process. Many local media outlets covered the fair. Arrangements are now being made for the beneficiaries to visit Gaziantep, Turkey early in the new year where another honey fair will be held.

Due to all of the ongoing success of the project, Mercy Hands are able to do more than they originally set out to achieve.

That summarises the latest updates from a wonderful project! We love receiving regular updates and seeing how our funding is impacting and changing lives for the better. We can’t wait to see what is achieved from this project in its final few months! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates.

How incredible would it be to fund an entirely new school for a community? Well, we’ve done just that through our latest donation to United World Schools!

United World Schools (UWS) is an international charity that focuses on providing sustainable and quality education. Their mission is to improve, through education, life opportunities for children living in remote and marginalised communities in Cambodia, Myanmar and Nepal.

Our grant will fund the construction of the UWS Laligurans school in the remote Nepalese village of Pipal Bote in the Sankhuwasabha district. Alongside this, our funding will cover the first five years of the school’s running costs until it is ready to transfer to government control! This will provide a permanent educational resource for a village that currently has no school locally, the closest being a two-hour walk away in the town of Okherbhote.

We are delighted to fund such a project that will substantially improve lives and which correlates with one of our four core priorities – education.

We hope this project will impact and add value to many lives and we will share the process of along the way. We are thrilled that we get to fund such projects and share the joy of seeing lives changed for the better with you.

Work started in early April to provide training and equipment to rehabilitate beekeeping activities and empower the local community. In addition to the direct economic benefits to the beekeepers and their families, this should indirectly benefit thousands of farmers and biodiversity in the region.

These projects align with several of our funding priorities by providing basic services, embracing sustainable development and, in the case of the school project, promoting education (by raising attendance rates, particular among girls).

Construction work has now started on the maternity unit and we are excited to follow the progress of these projects and see the benefits they will provide to the communities they serve.
